The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick is a 1960s-set novel about four dissatisfied suburban Virginia housewives who form a book club, nicknamed “The Betty.” After reading The Feminine Mystique, the women form a deep sisterhood, navigating personal turmoil, challenging patriarchal societal expectations, and finding the courage to redefine their lives.
